Kari Kola, internationally acclaimed for illuminating both natural landscapes and cultural landmarks — such as Ireland’s Connemara Mountains and the UK’s Stonehenge — brings his work to Australia for the first time with Lighting the Sound.

During his 2024 visit to Albany, Kari developed Roots of the Sky, a concept inspired by the Menang, or Bloodroot, plant — an important namesake for the region’s First Nations peoples. The work reflects themes of reconciliation and the passing of knowledge between generations, drawing on expansive interpretations of story and connection to Country.
