Great Day on King George Sound Captain Mark did an excellent job of finding a mother and calf Southern right whale for us to see, beautiful creatures. We also saw dolphins, a shipwreck, an old relic of a former lighthouse and white sand beaches. We enjoyed our time out on King George Sound.Captain Mark went out of his way to accommodate our ship's late arrival time in Albany. We liked that it was a small group experience and everyone had great space to take photos. The 4 in our group had a fantastic experience. A personable journey. The limited number of passengers available to go out made this experience more relaxed and comfortable. Having been on bigger vessels before at this time of year- this smaller boat meant no 'sea sickness' and you felt like it was more of a 'family experience'. I went on the King George Sound Safari whale tour and had a great time out on the water. The crew were fun, a bit cheeky, and made the trip both educational and enjoyable. We learned a lot about the whales and the local coastline, and even got to see a few out in the open sea. A really cool experience that definitely worth it.

We booked the cruise around Albany pretty last minute and ended up with Captain Mark. Funny bloke, great with the kids, and full of cool stories about the area. We even spotted a few dolphins which was a nice surprise. Such a chilled and fun couple of hours, heaps of laughs and some great photos too. Definitely worth doing if youāre in Albany!

Photographer's dream day out! As a group of photographers we were spoilt for choice on this cruise. A glorious winters day with the sun shining brightly. My partner & I boarded the King George Sound Tour vessel with Captain Mark. What an amazing experience, Albany's rich history seen from the water. With Captain Mark's knowledge he made it extremely enjoyable and with his charisma and humor (Love the dad jokes). By the way
We were also fortunate enough to see a whale , but sitting on the front deck having a pod of dolphins frolicking while cruising was the most enjoyable.

There are so many things to see and do around Albany. We were only in town for a couple of days so our available time to see and do was quite limited. I'm so glad that we took the 3 hour boat Safari with Captain Mark on his boat. It was worth 10 hours of driving around. There was an interesting commentary on the places we passed. Everyone on board had a great time plus we saw whales and dolphins which is a bonus. Being able to see so much of the area surrounding King George Sound in a short time and learn so much about the places we passed was great plus it was a memorable experience and a highlight of our trip.

The captain had a pretty silly sense of humour which made the boat tour all the more enjoyable. He warned me that being in the corner I would get wet. If I hadn't gotten wet at all I would have given 2 stars for the false advertising but I got a few wavefulls straight to the face and had a fantastic time. He gave facts about Albany's history and some fun facts about rocks, for all the rock enjoyers (me) and geologists in the audience. And I am absolutely going to watch that documentary. Relaxing & enjoyable cruise What fun!!! My husband and I did a two hour cruise with Captain Mark and it was so much fun. He shared lots of local knowledge as we went on our leisurely cruise. Great fun and highly recommend We recently did the Summer Safari Sea trip and had a great afternoon.Despite some windy conditions Captain Mark did an outstanding job navigating the harbour and making the experience as comfortable as possible.
The trip was a mix of information, adventure and humour.
The boat is intimate and allows interaction with other guests.
Captain Mark makes everyone feel welcomed and his jokes are a highlight.
Have now done two (2) trips with KGSS and wouldnāt hesitate to do another.

Booked a trip for my sister's birthday, had an informative and interesting tour, it was awesome being able to see the wreck of the Cheynes II and learn some of it's history. The boat is extremely stable, being a former sea rescue vessel. My niece had never been on a boat before, Captain Mark was very kind and humourous and set her at ease. What an experience ! What an experience !Watching whales was one of our dreams.
When we saw Captain Mark's little boat compares to the big tourists boats, we thought we had to take our chance !
Unfortunately no whales or dolphins to be seen on this beautiful day, we cannot force nature But we had such an exquisite time thanks to Captain Mark who made our day !

All aboard the Salty Young Dog! We had a fantastic day out with Captain Mark on this perfect little boat! He let us know that because it was late in the season, we may not see whales. It's never a guarantee right- they're wild creatures that don't follow a timetable. We headed off, got good local info as we chugged out of the harbour. Mark is good fun and easy to get along with. There's shelter inside the boat to get out of the sea spray, and seats outside and in. We could walk around the boat and stand up the front, cool sitting up there too if you're mobile. It was fabulous seeing all the interesting islands and beaches... really this tour was tops! 3hr duration perfect, and Mark's commentary was just enough. Those cheeky whals kept us guessing, we didn't see any but it didn't dampen a great day out. Thanks again Captain !!

When we booked, Captain Mark let us know we were late in the season for whales- we still took the tour and had an awesome adventure on the water. We got an informative and fun tour, Mark didn't waffle on about unnecessary stuff, just the facts with some humour. He was happy to answer our questions. The boat is a good little size, it was windy and there is room to shelter from the weather. His tour was just the right length, it gave us spectacular views of stunning Albany and it was just so relaxing and lovely being out on the water. Whales? Well they don't come when they're called folks! Great day out with best friend. Captain Mark was a comical gem on this tour. He assisted my 100 year old friend on board and helped to put him in the warmer cabin area in the best position for the best view. Fantasic tour, thanks Captain Mark! I really didn't think we would see any whales, but, gee, I was wrong!! We had singletons, mum and baby putting on a display and then, when we on our way home, we had the most majestic whale decide he was going to give us the display of a lifetime! After 'logging' for about 5 mins, he had recharged his batteries and the game was on. Breaching about 10 times. Flapping his fins one at a time, rolling from side to side. As we were about to leave after 20mins, he decided to lay on its back and flap both of them, as if saying 'see ya later!'
Only 12 max passengers on the boat, so lots of room to move and have great views. Best trip ever!

Amazing wildlife experience in Albany We had the absolute BEST time on Captain Markās boat!!! We really enjoyed having a smaller tour group and being able to chat with Mark and get to know him. Family friendly, funny guide, safe and comfortable vessel, whale watching. What an absolutely wonderful experience! We just cannot thank Mark enough for such a once in a lifetime morning. Our daughter is a true chatterbox, and he took her questions and comments with ease and a sense of mischief, and as a result sheās now telling everyone who will listen how awesome Capitan Mark is. I spent half of the trip seasick - but Iād still do it again if given the chance. Mark has such an excellent way of sharing information, and making you feel like no question is too silly. It was a bit of a rainy, bleary morning out on the water, but we still saw a fair amount of whale activity. We also saw dolphins and, my personal highlight - birds! I ticked off my first Albatross!
Marks boat is a wonderfully safe, comfortable ride, with some very meaningful touches to his late son quietly riding the waves with you.

We certainly enjoyed this whale watch trip. Initially, we were like worried that for an hour & and half, there was no sightseeing, but with 7 years of experience, our jovial Captain Mark soon brought us to a wonderful sightseeing of these magnificent humpback whale and dolphin. I guess luck was on our side as soon as we spotted the first school, we had the second, then the third, and on... even near the bay! Awesome, Captain Mark!!!

Fun scenic tour Iāve been on Captain Markās boat twice now and each time Iāve learned lots of interesting facts about my hometown and sea life. Out in the Sound It was a great experience. Unfortunately we did not see a single whale, or dolphin, but one very sleepy seal . Mark was engaging and everyone had a turn at steering. Me and my partner decided to do a whale watching experience whilst visiting Albany for the first time - We were so glad to have chosen this boat trip! Mark was such a fun guy and made the experience definitely one to remember! Although unfortunately we didn't see any whales, which ofcourse is out of Marks control ofcourse, we did get the privaledge to see dolphins and seals which was great!
The boat was a great size - I personally like smaller boats as it feels more personal compared to the big boats you see offering similar experiences. Spent the morning out on the water with Captain Mark and we had a great time. Boat and group size were perfect as it made the entire morning personable. What a great day today out with Captain Mark & the 'Young Salty Dog' on King George Sound Safari. This has got to be is the best way to see the coastline of King George Sound. The feeling of being out on the water and having fun in a totally safe way was exhilarating! I rarely go out on boats and was happy to find this Safari because it was totally easy to book and go out on the water for whale and dolphin watching. The boat feels easy to be on, has shelter from rain and sun and is able to get around all the places to see & learn about the environment & marine wildlife. Captain Mark also shares fun facts, stories & history of this area in an easy upbeat way. Can recommend going with him especially if you want a more down to earth, family friendly experience that feels like you're out with a friend. Weather no obstacle This boat went out when the other one didnāt due to the weather. Great sturdy boat with cover & excellent service. Our teenaged kids loved it we all learned a lot. The whales hid on the day we chose but we get to go again at no charge which is very generous.
Mark was kind, competent & knowledgeable. It was nice not to be in a huge group too - this one has plenty of room but feels intimate and friendly.

Captain Mark brought me closer to god The first moment we walked on the boat and shook captain markās hand and said āpleasure to meet you ā he replied āI know, everyone tells me that!ā. This took me aback at the start, and 10 minutes later I realised he was right.Captain Mark is the lifeblood of this tour and one of the most humorous people I have ever met. This tour was the best laughs I have had in years.

Unique Experience We went out with Mark a few days ago while we were in Albany and had an amazing trip. We particularly liked the small group atmosphere and as Mark is an owner operator and also a local fisherman, he has an extensive knowledge of the area, history, wildlife and conditions. The boat tailored for smaller groups, allows easy socialising and was excellent allowing indoor or outdoor access.

Magnificent tour I have been travelling for 4 months from Victoria and this was by far the best experience I have had. Captain Mark was fun and chill which made for a relaxed atmosphere. We saw a mum and baby whale with dolphins swimming around also. A great tour of the local area from a comfy seat on the boat with some interest info and a few jokes included. We were lucky enough to secure a last minute cruise in December 2022. We last visited 3 years ago and weāre looking forward to another trip. Captain Mark was very knowledgeable on not just the whales (which unfortunately due to the timing of our visit we were unable to see) but also Albany, itās history, itās exporting trade, itās marine animals and much more. Highlights for the kids (12 years and and 10 years old) was wearing the captains hat and sitting in the drivers seat, as well as holding a whales tooth. If your looking for something to do whilst visiting Albany, I can highly recommend King George Sound Safari. Our family for 4 really enjoyed it, and it was value for money.

Top trip around Albany harbour We booked a trip with Mark on the āYoung Salty Dogā to check out King George Sound (Albany) on a glorious day. A close up of the wreck āCheyenneās IIā made for some great photography. We also got to Captain the boat for a short distance which was lots of fun. Mark had terrific banter and sometimes his stories had me wondering?? The Right Whale ejects 200lt of sperm out of a 4metre penis and his gonads weigh 500kg each - Lordy they are big numbers!! Lots of Googling happening to check, but all true!The water is an exquisite turquoise in some spots and sand a glistening white.
This is a terrific, value for money, 2hr tour - just do it!

We organised a cruise for my mums 70th birthday - despite it being very windy Mark gave us several options and customised the tour to suit. Great day out on the sound in Albany We were lucky enough to secure a last minute cruise in December 2022. We last visited 3 years ago and weāre looking forward to another trip. Captain Mark was very knowledgeable on not just the whales (which unfortunately due to the timing of our visit we were unable to see) but also Albany, itās history, itās exporting trade, itās marine animals and much more. Although we didn't see any seals, dolphins or live whales, we still had a great time. We saw parts of Albany that we wouldn't have otherwise seen and we learnt a lot about the history of the area. Mark definitely knows his stuff and makes an enjoyable cruise host.

Wonderful Albany Experience We travelled to Albany with friends and the King George Sound Safari came up on my Facebook. It sounded like a good experience, so I booked it for the 4 of us. On arrival at the jetty, there were a couple of other big boats and we thought, oh dear, should we have booked them, instead of the little red one! No, we shouldn't have, as there were only 6 of us on the boat & Mark (Skipper) was excellent at explaining the sites around Albany & looking for whales, which I have to say, we did see whales and dolphins. Highly recommend Mark if you are looking for a smaller scale whale watching, the boat only takes 12 persons which is what we were looking for, we didn't want to do it with a bigger operator. Luckily for us the weather was awesome, we did saw few whales and were lucky enough to have a calf swiming right on us (just wasn't fast enough to get a picture. The highlight was a pod of dolphins swimming with us for few minutes on our way back.

We went on the Whale Watching cruise with Mark on our Anniversary & although we didn't see any whales we had an amazing time the cruise was relaxed full of fun and Mark was full of knowledge we got to see Dolphins close up, a penguin and sealions.... we all had a go of being captain of the boat which was great. The water was really calm & clear and we got some amazing shots of the dolphins who put on a great show! We had a family trip booked with Mark. The weather predictions werenāt the best and we had little kids on board that had never been in a boat before. It turned out to be the best day ever for everyone. We were all keen to see whales but we soon found out that there is so much more to see than just whales. So we explored Albany from an angle most of us have never seen although having lived in Albany for a long time. To top it off with saw 2 humpbacks and a school of dolphins with a baby. Lucky us. The weather was perfect , we saw dolphins, salmon swimming in the water, and some beautiful beaches.
The commentary was very informative and fun. The 2 hours flew by.
Would definately recommend to anyone visiting Albany.

Great cruising around King George Sound. Stable boat. Seating for 12. Great Captain, in Mark. learnt Albany's history. Loved cruising to Quaranup and checking out the old whale chaser Cheyes II. Loved it. Do yourself a favour and go!

Whilst, sadly. no whales came out to play, the tour of the sound was very enjoyable. Mark was knowledgeable on the area, pointing out all buildings/areas of interest and the history behind them. He made the tour lots of fun too - everyone thoroughly enjoyed it. We will definitely be back for a return tour when we are down south again next year. Highly recommend šš¼

My family and I had the best experience ever !!! Amazing service from Mark!!! I knew we would have a great time š but honestly totally exceeded all expectations!!! I will be telling every customer that comes into my work to go on this tour !! I went with both my boys 9& 14 years old . Mark Made then feel sooo special ā¤ļø driving the boat and all š¤©š. Not to mention we seen Dolphins and Whales š¬š. More to the point itās the service we recieved š. So special and well... exceptional !!! 10 out of 5 stars for us ššš¬šš¤©

We had a fantastic 2 hour tour with Captain Mark. Lots of stories and information about a bunch of locations on the water. I especially liked the one about the floating restaurant that tried to sink in 2m of water. Classic!
Iāll definitely be sending friends and family to do a tour when they come out on holiday.
(PS Our little girl drove the boat most of the way and still hasnāt stopped talking about it)

We had a 3hr whale spotting cruise this morning with captain Mark. The whales didnāt want to see us, but a seal popped his head up, thatās what happens when your dealing with nature.
Still worth every cent. Mark was very knowledgeable about the area & we got to see some beautiful sights. Also Mark recommend a nice pub for a after cruise drink. Thanks Mark
